Overview

Ken Dibble Acoustics are an independent consultancy in noise control, acoustics and audio engineering. The Practice Principal is a Member of the Academy of Experts and a Law Society 'Checked Expert' with 20+ years experience.

Planning
Impact analysis of noise related planning conditions, compliance guidance and audit, PPG/24 NEC assessment and expert support in addressing the noise aspects of appeals. Sound insulation testing in accordance with Approved Document E to the 1991 Building Regulations also undertaken.

Licensing
Expert advice & guidance in complying with and/or appealing noise conditions attached to Justices-on Licenses, Public Entertainment Licenses and Special Hours Certificates. Our experience base includes public houses, private clubs, night clubs, hotels, leisure and multi-use complexes, cinemas, stadia and outdoor concerts and festivals.

Tenancy Agreements
Formulation of, advising on the implications of, and devising means of compliance with, restrictions imposed by landlords, letting agents & developers relating to disturbance by noise of other tenants or neighbours.

1974 CPA and 1990 EPA Sec. 80 Statutory Nuisance Actions
Assessment of Abatement Notice for reasonableness in context of 1975 and 1990 Statutory Nuisance Appeals Regulations and provision of supporting testimony at appeal  hearing.

Where appeal is inappropriate an investigation and assessment of the complaint is carried out, a means of compliance agreed with the local authority environmental services officials and ongoing monitoring put in place where necessary.

Industrial Injury Claims - Hearing Impairment
Once a consultant otolaryingologist or audiologist has diagnosed actual loss of hearing acuity, the obligations of employers under the 1989 Noise at Work Regulations can be investigated and often, cause established. Cases handled to date include concert and nightclub sound and lighting operatives, members of HM Armed Forces exposed to weapon fire, miners, petrochem and power generation fitters and a circus clown.

Contractual Disputes
Expert opinion and/or arbitration in respect of building acoustics, noise transmission and audio systems installations inlcuding objective performance audit against design statement and contract requirements etc. A full range of test and measurement equipment is available in-house.
